VT Flagship and USPCC

VT Flagship sponsors Services cricket

John Wadham and Phil Buckley VT Flagship has signed a two year sponsorship deal with the United Services (Portsmouth) Cricket Club (USPCC).

The club, which is based in Burnaby Road, Portsmouth, is open to all service personnel living or working in the area. Its three senior Saturday sides compete in the Southern Electric Premier and Hampshire leagues and a Sunday side takes part in ‘friendly’ matches. A thriving ‘Colts’ youth section, with U11, U13 and U15 teams, welcomes young players with or without a service connection.

Says John Wadham, VT Flagship’s Operations Director (pictured left); “VT Flagship is delighted to be the USPCC’s main sponsor for 2009/2010. As the Royal Navy’s long-term training partner we enjoy a close relationship with the Navy and recognise the key role that sport plays in the lives of service personnel.

“We are looking forward to the new season and wish the teams’ every success in their forthcoming fixtures.”

Adds club Chairman, Captain Phil Buckley RN (pictured right) ; “This sponsorship will enable the club to progress our two year development plan, broadening the range of sporting opportunities for all club members. We will shortly gain the Sport England ‘Clubmark’ quality accreditation for our Colts section and this funding will enable us to continue our focus on raising playing standards across all the teams.

“Our grounds, which have been used by the Hampshire team in the past, enjoy a great location in the centre of Portsmouth. We are ideally placed for service personnel in the vicinity and new members, regardless of playing standard, are always welcome.”
