Sea change at VT
VT announces Dave Hobbs’ appointment as Managing Director, Sea
Thirty one years within VT gives Dave Hobbs, newly appointed Managing Director, Sea, an excellent understanding and depth of knowledge to build upon in his new role.
Heading up VT’s Sea organisation, with a 2,000 strong workforce, providing support services for clients such as the Royal Navy and New Zealand Navy, Dave’s looking to grow VT’s capabilities, developing strengths and synergies through the component businesses, which include VT Flagship.
His previous role, as Managing Director of VT Environmental Engineering, saw him establish an organisation capable of achieving financial closure of the £700m ‘Waste to Energy’ PFI with Wakefield Metropolitan District Council and designing and building a first-of-class engineering solution for this project.
Prior to this, as Managing Director of VT Halmatic, Dave successfully transformed the business, moving out of the commercial sector and into longer term relationships with customers in the military and para-military markets in the UK and overseas. He has held senior positions across the business, including Managing Director of VT Fitzroy (responsible for the Royal New Zealand’s Navy ship maintenance), Ship Repair Director for Fleet Support Limited (a joint venture responsible for all the repair and maintenance of all Royal Navy ships based in Portsmouth Naval Base) and Operations Director for Vosper Mantech (running the Engineering and Logistics for GCHQ, based in Cheltenham).
Dave’s new role became operational on May 01, 2009.
